작문에서 주어와 동사를 일치 시키는 것은 중요한데요.

돈, 거리, 시간, 무게가 주어일 경우에는 한 단위로 보아 단수 동사가 사용되어야 해요.

Ten dollars is too much to pay for a doll. (돈)

Three years is just too long to take a test. (시간)

Seven miles is a long distance to run. (거리)

Fifteen ＊Ibs is how much he wants to lose next month. (무게)

                           ＊ Ibs - Pound

그러나 흘러간 많은 시간으로 간주될 때는 복수가 된다.

Five years have passed since I went to the shop.

내가 그 가게에 간지 5년이 지났다.
